Vision Board Parties and the importance of your visions.

Starting off the New Year on a right note.

By Mari-Anne De Castro January 6, 2020

This past weekend I joined some of the Ladies from The Moms of Downey Facebook group for their Vision Board Party. This was something very new to me as I myself have never done anything like this before. All I knew before coming into the event was that we would each have our own board and we would cut pictures and words off magazines and hope we end up with something we feel that we could be proud of at the end. What I did not know was that after all was said and done there was so much more to this party than just cutting and pasting.

Our party was held at the HomeStart Realty Group Office in Downey.  When I walked into the room I already found the ladies busy with making their boards meaningful for themselves. Magazines, scissors, glue stick, stickers were all spread around the table for everyone to share and chatters about what they would want in the future was discussed around the room. It was so great to be in a room where everyone was so encouraging about each others hopes and dreams for the coming year.

When we needed ideas or certain pictures we would like included in our board we would all keep a lookout on magazines we were going through to complete each others boards. Though each one of us all had different ideas about what we would like to include in our creations, for the most part we all had similar visions in the end. To be healthy through mind and body and also more date nights for ourselves and our significant others. Which if you ask any parents out there is something they would like to do more often as well.

Before we wrapped up the party, we talked about how we would be able to achieve that visions and goals that we had set for ourselves. We all agreed that we would catch up a few times during the year to see where we were as far meeting our goals and if we have achieved any of them. Having an accountability group to check up how we are doing is such a great way to keep ourselves on track. This is something that I have also learned the past year when I attended the Macaroni Kid Meet-Up.

Where does one keep their vision board? I'll be keeping mine up in my home office where I'll be able to see it everyday to help keep me motivated and remind me what I need to do to make them come true.

As excited as I am to see how much of my Vision board can actually come true, I am also very much looking forward to seeing how each of the Ladies meet their goals and look forward to their success stories.

Vision Board Parties are not just for the grown ups. Vision Board parties with the family is a great way to spend time with one another and find out what kind of goals each member of the family is hoping to achieve this new year. It opens up discussions to the possibilities of what the future may have for each of our love ones. Having the little ones join in the fun is also a great way to get them involved into what they might want to do this year as well.

What does one need to have a successful Vision Board Party? Lots of Old Magazines, glue sticks, scissors, markers, stickers, scrapbook paper, snacks and drinks for everyone. There is no wrong or right way of doing it. As long as every single person that joins the party all have great intentions coming in, then your party will just be as fun.
