This November, the Chinese Lantern Festival returns for the holiday season to the Pomona Fairplex with its brand-new illuminated production themed“Blooming Seasons”. Bigger and brighter stunning lanterns, up to 30 feet high, include an 85-foot-wide lantern arch, 100-yard-long breathtaking Ceramic Chinese Dragon, along with ridable “mythical creatures” children’s rides — all on display from the Glade to Lagoon at
Fairplex Pomona (1101 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona, CA 91768) from
Thursday, November 21 - Sunday, January 5, 2020
“New for this year, guests will experience a unique light display inspired by nature,” says George Zhao, producer of the Chinese Lantern Festival. “Guests will journey deep into a vast wonderland from exotic flowers, trees, plants, insects, mammals to reptiles. It’s the four seasons of nature, plus an assortment of animals that correspond to their given environment.”
Inspired by the art of Chinese lantern making, dating
back 2,000 years ago, guests will experience a vibrant
light show with mixed-media lanterns. Throughout
the hillside, brilliant lanterns depicting the Amazon
Jungle, fruit tree groves, peach blossoms, maple
leaves, poppies, cactuses, squirrels, foxes, and more.
Each lantern is made of modern materials and eco-
friendly technology with brilliantly-lit colored LED
lightbulbs, musical enhancements and sound effects,
plus visual moving parts to create larger-than-life
imaginative shapes.
The Magical Chinese Lantern Festival will also feature:
- Mythical creature rides for children
- Food and concessions
