What do you do when you can’t find the right hair salon or barber to cut your child’s hair?
You open your own.
This is how Family Cutz came about. Local Mom Patty Moreno had a tough time finding a local barbershop to take her then 2 year old son. She would take him into salons that advertised quality children's haircut but after each and every appointment she would be disappointed in the outcomes of how his hair would turn out.
Timing could not have come at a better time for Patty. When she was laid-off from a corporate position she took the time to develop a business plan to open up a hair salon. It would be a full service salon with all it's stylist fully trained in cutting adults and children's hair. In the beginning she had naysayers that said the idea of having a children’s hair salon would not work but she knew this was what was missing in the community and so in August of 2013, Family Cutz opened it's doors to customers.
The salon has just recently been renovated. A designated space where toys are available for children to play. Chairs are placed throughout the waiting area for parents to wait for their appointment while watching their little one play.
On the salon floor, a line of children’s salon chairs disguise as children’s cars that appeal for both young girls and boys. In the back are chairs for the older crowd so they can treat themselves to a new do.
In the weekends Patty sets up an array of goodies and treats for her customers while they wait for their services.
Family Cutz provides a clean environment for all it's customers. When someone is cutting hair you can make sure to find another staff sweeping away to make sure the shop is clean for all it's customers. The waiting area with toys for the children are sanitized daily and vacuumed to help promote cleanliness.
For my sons haircut it only took about 10 minutes for him to get a fresh cut and he’s not one to stay in one place for a very long time and as a customer I've always been satisfied with the outcomes of his hairstyle and all the stylist are very personable and makes sure that the children are comfortable while they are getting their services done.
